Linda Wrigglesworh
Linda Wrigglesworth,
leading expert on Imperial Chinese Costume, has designed a sumptuous
collection inspired by the fabrics and styles of dress worn by China's
ruling Mandarin elite during the Qing dynasty of the 18th and 19th centuries. It is a collection
born of her unique understanding of the era: how court costumes were
made, the materials used, and who wore them. These original designs
reflect the exotic elegance of the Imperial Court in their beauty and
practicality, but tailored for the modern woman. High collars, angular
yet fluid shapes and jewel bright linings have been recreated in exquisite
fabrics; silk satins and gauzes, linens, velvets and cottons, discretely
featuring traditional symbols such as phoenixes and peonies, all of
which would have been familiar to courtiers of the Dragoon Throne. This range of hand-finished
pieces, including jackets, trousers, waistcoats, skirts and dresses,
has been created to enhance the wardrobe for any occasion. Exclusively at the
Linda Wrigglesworth Gallery, 34 Brook Street, Mayfair, London W1K 5DN To meet Linda Wrigglesworth

Al Bell
After more than
a decade as a graphic designer, winning both national and international
design awards Al Bell is finally realising a long-held ambition - to
leave his Apple Mac alone and find some time to stand at an easel, paintbrush
in one hand and pallete in the other. The landscape -
both town and country - has always been a source of visual inspiration
and he is currently working on a series of paintings which explore the
transition from urban and industrial to rural and wild environments.
Derived from sketches
collected on his travels throughout Scotland and abroad (a Moroccan
skyline is shown above) the paintings reflect his passion for the vast
variety of shapes and forms which make up the world around us. Watch this space
for details of a Summer Exhibition. For more information email: al@bellgraphic.co.uk |
